How do I solve my Adobe Illustrator file problem?

How do I set up a trap or knockout in an Illustrator file?

How do I get rid of "colours" flagged by QuickPrint in my grayscale Illustrator blend?

How do I stop curves within Illustrator EPSs within a PDF that is being proofed out of PageStore from appearing “flattened"?

How do I outline my fonts in Illustrator to prevent font problems when QuickPrinting jobs through Quark or InDesign?

When using or creating an image created in FreeHand or Illustrator that will be used in a Quark or InDesign document, then QuickPrinted, try to ensure that you always outline any fonts to eliminate the possibility of any font conflict problems.

Select the entire document using the arrow tool. Go to the menu bar Type > Create Outlines

Illustrator 9 and 10, QuickPrint and Spot Colours

You must ensure that all EPS files created from Illustrator 9 and 10 do not have any spot colours in them if you are importing them into a source application such as QuarkXPress and then sending the file to a Process destination. All colours must be separated.

If Spot colours are present in the document a source application such as QuarkXPress and PageMaker will appear to convert the imported eps files to process. This is not actually the case. QuickPrint cannot make any changes to an imported EPS of any kind. The resulting PDF will not separate correctly at the destination.

You can solve this by saving the file in Illustrator 8 format or by ensuring that all elements in the files are process in color space.

Please note: If you use InDesign as a source application you will receive a fault on the presence of spot colour in the document.
