What is a watched folder workflow?
Adobe Acrobat Distiller
is used in conjunction with QuickPrint by setting up a watched
folder in which files are automatically
distilled. The resulting PDF is found in the out folder
in that watched folder. You can also "tell" the watched
folder to use the Quickcut job options set up in Distiller at this
stage.
A watched
folder in Acrobat is a folder that
Distiller checks every 30 seconds. Distiller then creates a PDF
out of any Postscript file that is in that folder. So any file
saved in there is automatically distilled provided Distiller is
launched and active.
How do I set up a watched folder in Acrobat

After setting your Job Options
to Quickcut go
to the menu bar and go to Settings > Watched Folders.
A window will appear with
a blank box on the left hand side and buttons on the right. If
a watched folder has not been set in this Distiller before this
will be empty. On the other hand, there may be other locations
that are relevant to other workflows used in your setup. You are
able to add another watched folder without disturbing the other
watched folders. If you already have a Quickcut watched folder
and it is italicised please remove that
location using the button on the right and start again.
Setting a watched folder for PageStore users
Click on the Add folder button
on the right and navigate your way to the PageStore > Workspace > Working folder
on your computer or server. Click on Select to
choose the Working folder.
An In and
an Out folder
will now appear in the Working folder. The path to that folder
will now appear on the left hand side. All files saved into the in folder
will be distilled providing Acrobat Distiller is active.
Setting a watched folder for PageStore Online
users
To add a folder click on
the Add button
on the right and navigate your way to the QuickPrint folder on
your computer. Click on Select to
choose the QuickPrint folder.
An In and

will now appear on the left hand side. All files saved into the in folder
will be distilled providing Acrobat Distiller is active.
