What is Acrobat used for?
Adobe Acrobat is used to not only create PDFs
for transmission after they have been checked by QuickPrint,
but it is also used to preview and convert files in PageStore.
What is Acrobat used for with PageStore?
In a standard PageStore workflow it is also
used to "watch" a particular folder in PageStore,
distill any files that are placed in that folder then move
them into the outgoing folder of PageStore. Acrobat uses a
particular set of Job Options to do this to ensure the integrity
of the resulting file. When the resulting PDF has been automatically
moved into the outgoing folder and you open the entry in PageStore,
Acrobat will create the preview you see in your Transmission
Viewer. When a publisher receives a file, they can use Acrobat
to convert the file to an EPS format which can then be integrated
into their pagination system, or in some cases can import
the PDF directly. Publishers also use Acrobat to preview and
proof their files.
Acrobat Reader cannot do any of these things
so it is vital that you have a full version of Acrobat on
any computer that is used in the Quickcut workflow.

What is the PageStorePI plugin to Acrobat?
To make PageStore use Acrobat on a Mac you
must have a file called PageStorePI installed in your Acrobat
Plugins folder. Without it you will not be able to preview,
proof or convert files. If you reinstall Acrobat you will
need to delete this file and download it again.

here to download PageStorePI Installer for Macintosh.
A PC user will not need to download PageStorePI
at this stage.
