Solution or Explanation |
The PhotoShop
EPS XXX has been saved with the 'PostScript Color Management'
option turned on.
|
It is VITAL that you
pay attention to this error and act on it. Please see What
is PostScript Colour Management for information on how
to solve the error. Failure to do so could result in your
ad appearing with undesirable results.
|
The job style
is set to 'Mono/B&W', but the image contains color.
|
Source where the colour is in the ad and delete
it from the document. In a source application such as Quark
you can do this by opening the colour palette, selecting each
colour, deleting it and replacing it with black or white as
appropriate when and if prompted.
It may be in an Illustrator or FreeHand file in which case you will need
to open the file in the native application then in Illustrator go to
the menu bar Filter > Colours > Convert to Grayscale. If
it is in a Photoshop file you will need to open the file, go to the menu
bar Image > Mode > Grayscale.
|
The job style
is set to 'Spot' but contains XX colors. It should contain
Black plus 1 color
|
The ad contains more than 2 plates. Check the
make up of the colour in the colour palette in both the source
application and the image applications and make sure all colours
are set to produce Spot Colour.
Or was the file accidentally set to Spot colour
when it should have been mono? Check the ad is actually meant
to be spot and adjust as necessary. Please note if one of
the images in question is a Photoshop document you will have
to use "Spot Colour from magenta" or similar to
get just the two plates. If this can't be done then call
the destination and see if it is OK for you to send it as
true process.
|
The job style
is set to 'Multi-Spot' but contains XX colors. It should
contain Black plus 2 or 3 other colors.
|
The ad contains less than 2 plates. Check
the makeup of your colour in the colour palette in both the
source application and the image applications and make sure
there is actually more than one Spot Colour in the document.
QuickPrint does not recognise "Black" as a Spot Colour.
Check the file was not accidentally set to Multi Spot colour
when it should have been another format. Check the ad is actually
meant to be multi spot and adjust as necessary.
|
The job style
is set to 'Multi-Spot', but the image contains only 1 spot
color.
|
The ad contains one spot colour. Check the
makeup of your colour in the colour palette in both the source
application and the image applications and make sure there
is actually more than one Spot Colour in the document. QuickPrint
does not recognise "Black" as a Spot Colour. Check
the file was not accidentally set to Multi Spot colour when

|
The job style
is set to 'Process' but contains Spot colors.
|
Some components of the file are made up using
Spot colours that have not been converted to CMYK. Select the
warning in QuickPrint, note which element is creating the error
then change the colour in the source application to CMYK. Please
note that Illustrator 9 and 10 files will appear to convert
but will remain spot. The resulting PDF will have a colour
space of "Separation" not CMYK. Please save these
files as Illustrator 8 or ensure that all components are set
to seperate.

The job style
is set to 'Spot as Process' but contains Spot colors.

Some components of the file are made up using
Spot colours that have not been converted to CMYK which is
how Spot as Process files need to be made up. Select the warning

change the colour in the source application to CMYK.
|
The job style
is set to 'Spot' but doesn't contain Black. It should contain
Black plus 1 color.
|
The ad does not contain a Black plate which
is required by a Spot Colour ad. Check the makeup of your colour
in the colour palette in both the source application and the
image applications and make sure there is actually Black in
the document. Or accept the file as is if that is the requirement
of the publisher.

The job
style is set to 'Multi-Spot' but doesn't contain Black.
It should contain Black plus 2 or 3 other colors.

The ad does not contain a Black plate which
is generally required by a Spot Colour ad. Check the makeup
of your colour in the colour palette in both the source application
and the image applications and make sure there is actually
Black in the document.
|
The job
style is set to 'Process', but the image appears to contain
no color.
|
The ad is either mono or there is a PDF or
image from an application like Microsoft Excel that has been
imported into your source application. If it is mono, make
sure that there is not meant to be colour in the ad and change
your "style" to mono in QuickPrint. Otherwise, there
may be a placed image in the document which QuickPrint currently
cannot check for colours. If it is a PDF please confirm that
the colour space is correct (CMYK), as RGB or LAB PDF files
may not separate correctly at the destination. Images from
Excel etc will not Distill correctly.
Alternatively, perhaps the job style should
have been set as Mono rather than Process.

The makeup of
color XXX is not the same as the chosen spot color XXX. It
may produce unexpected results.
|
This warning generally occurs when you have
imported an EPS file into the source application then QuickPrinted
the job as Spot Colour. QuickPrint can "see" the
colour in the EPS but cannot check it against the same colour
in it's own database. You must ensure that all colours in the
EPS are created to reflect the same values as the spot colour
required by the destination.
|
The color XXX
does not contain any XXX, and so will not appear on the spot
plate.
|
One of the colours in your document must
contain a certain colour to ensure its appearance on the Spot
Colour plate. You will need to adjust the document if you want
the post colour plate to appear.
|
The picture XXX
uses a custom screen. This may be ignored or overridden by
the destination's RIP or printer.
|
A custom screen (elliptical, square etc) has
been applied to that image within Photoshop. QuickPrint - and
the destinations - dictate what sort of screen they can accept
and will more than likely override any screens made at the
image composition level by the sender.
|
The
picture XXX contains process colors, but these colors cannot
be checked against the chosen spot color.
|
A common error in Spot as Process ads. What
it means is that the affected image whilst being process cannot
be checked against the chosen spot colour in QuickPrint so
you must ensure that the CMYK breakdown in the image is the
same as the chosen spot colour.
|
The XXX plate
is not required for the chosen spot color and will be omitted.
|
The plate in question is not used to create
the spot colour and will not be transmitted to the destination.
Please make sure that there is no important elements on that
plate by printing plates out of of your source application
and checking them carefully.
|
Registration color has been used.
|
Registration colour appears black but in fact is made up of
100% cyan, 100% magenta, 100% yellow and 100% black. This means
that if you use registration colour anywhere in a document other
than where it is required by Quark to create registration marks,
your job will be rejected. You will need to change the elements
coloured Registrtation to an acceptable colour - usually black.
Of course is your ad has bleed and Printers Marks you will have
Registration Colour in the file and it will be ok to proceed. |
