What is a "Bounce Test"?
A bounce test is used to test the send and receive capabilities
of your system. It can help you make sure that your paths are set
correctly. It is also a good way of sending a file to Quickcut for
investigation.
Essentially, the job you send "bounces" to
the Quickcut hub then back to your machine as if you were the publisher
receiving
the file.
How do I send a "Bounce Test"?
Step 1
Create a new job in QuickPrint. It doesn’t matter which publication
you “send” it to in QuickPrint as this will be changed.
It is recommended that you choose your “usual” format
(eg PDF) and keep the file very simple.
Step 2
When the file has appeared in PageStore, double
click on it to open it then go to Edit > Edit Job Destinations.
Step 3
A new window will appear with the name of the
publication you created the job for at the bottom and “potential” destinations
at the top. Select the chosen destination in the bottom window and
click on the Remove button on the right. This will remove that destination
from your list. Then select •Bounce test in the top list and
click on Add on the right hand side. The words •Bounce test
will now appear in the destinations window at the bottom.
Step 4
Click on Done and you will see the usual job
details window with •Bounce
test as the destination at the top. All the other fields will be
blank. Put the word “Test” in all these fields apart
from the date field where you should put today’s date. When
complete, click on Save, then proof, release and send the file as
per usual.
If you get an error and the file is not sent you will need to contact your
local Tech Support team.
Step 5
After about 15 minutes make another connection. You should see
your job “bouncing” back
to you. It will appear in the “incoming” tab in your PageStore
Transmission Viewer.
If it does not “bounce” back then
please call your local technical support team.
